The Arizona Miner
Prescott, Arizona Territory
May 24th, 1873
Camp Date Creek.
It was late in the evening when we
arrived at this military post and exI
ndian boarding house. The post—trader’s
store of our excellent friend, Geo. H.
Kimball, was filled with citizens,
military officers and others, who were
anxiously awaiting letters and papers
from Prescott and other up—stair viil
ages. Capt. Geo. F. Price, an old
newspaper editor, stumper and soldier,
Lieut. Trout and many others whose names
have slipped our memory, were there.
Kimball offered us samples of nearly
every good thing in his establishment,
many of which we had to refuse, owing to
paucity of transportation facilities. A
good supper, change of horses and driver,
a crack of the whip and we were bounding
along for Wickenburg.
