The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory March 22nd, 1873 After the Murderers- Lieutenant Wm. F. Rice, 23rd Infantry, guide, D. O’Leary, 50 mounted soldiers and 20 friendly Indians, left Camp Date Creek early Tuesday last, to follow the trail of the savage gang that murdered Swain, McDonald and Taylor. Lieut. Rice will do all that can be done to overtake and punish the imps. Another party was sent out from Camp McDowell.

Arizona Citizen Tucson, Pima County, A.T. Saturday, November 25th, 1871 The Government fed Indians at Date Creek undoubtedly committed the horrible massacre of six men near Wickenburg. The citizens of Prescott organized to go and kill them all off, but some of the cooler ones induced the others to let General Crook inquire into the facts and settle with the murderers, who proceeded to do so at once. The Indians there should all be killed, but we are glad that matters took the course they did. The ApacheM ohaves evidently heard how well the Grant Indians were treated because of their many and continued thefts and murders, and hence their terrible Wickenburg slaughter. Colyer is mainly responsible for these six lives.

The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory October 19th, 1867 MAIL CARRIER MURDERED - 7th inst. , Mr. Thomas On Monday , the Mulligan , mail carrier between this place and Tucson , was attacked and murdered by Indians , a few miles beyond Fort McPherson. When shot he was a little in advance of his escort, who turned their horses and galloped back to the Fort for assistance. When a party from the Fort reached the scene of the murder , the Indians had decamped with the animals and the mail— bag , having cut the latter open and emptied its contents upon the ground. Mr. Mulligan was a native of Ireland, one of the early pioneers of Arizona, and a man possessed Of many sterling qualities

The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory August 10th, 1867 SUPPOSED MURDER ON THE LA PAZ ROAD. The teamsters with Fencer' s train, which arrived here a few days since , report that at a point about four miles from Black Tanks , and about a hundred yards from the road, they found the body of a soldier much decomposed. Upon arriving at Camp McPherson they learned that one William Lawyer , who having lately received $600 from his wife in the East, determined to desert, and did so, with one Collins, about four weeks since. It is supposed that Collins killed him for his money, and we hear that a man answer— ing Collins' description lately crossed at the Bradshaw Ferry in the night , ( seizing the boat, ) with Callahan , who killed McGee at Wickenburg. The precious pair are probably in San Francisco by this time , and we commend them to the police. Collins is said to have, during the war, been a member of Mosby' s famous band of guerillas.
