The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory March 22nd, 1873 After the Murderers- Lieutenant Wm. F. Rice, 23rd Infantry, guide, D. O’Leary, 50 mounted soldiers and 20 friendly Indians, left Camp Date Creek early Tuesday last, to follow the trail of the savage gang that murdered Swain, McDonald and Taylor. Lieut. Rice will do all that can be done to overtake and punish the imps. Another party was sent out from Camp McDowell.

The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory April 13th, 1872 Date Creek. Wm. Gilson, who arrived here recently, informs us that Irataba and his braves had also visited Camp Date Creek, and that they were going to visit the Pimas, Maricopas and, perhaps Camp McDowell. When asked if he did not fear to travel through the Apache Country, Irataba said, “Yes, a little, “but the Apaches know Irataba an his warriors can fight!”

SPECIAL ORDERS - No. 10, issued July 20: Company C, 1st cavalry, is hereby re— lieved from duty at Camp Crittenden , A-TO , and will be on the receipt of this order proceed to Camp McDowell A. T. , and take post at that station. Upon the arrival of Company C, 1st cavalry, at Camp McDowell , Company B, 3d cavalry , will be relieved from duty at that post and proceed to Camp Date Creek, A. T - , and take post at that station. The Quar— termaster s Department will furnish the necessary means of transportation for this movement , the companies furnishing the teamsters .

Colonel : Since writing my letter of July 22nd, I have received Special Orders No. 10 C. S. from Headquarters Department of Arizona, directing Co . "B" 3rd Cavalry to proceed to this post on being relieved at Camp McDowell by a Company of the 1st Cavalry from Camp Crittenden. As it is now probable that it will be at least two months before Co. "B" can arrive here, I would respectfully ask for the reasons given in my letter of the 22nd that Lieut. Smith with 20 men of that Company be ordered here as soon as practicable . The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory January 8th, 1870 Local Intelligence. Lieutenant O. B. From Camp Date Creek. — and Willard Rice, post Boyd, U.S.A. , guide arrived at Fort Whipple Tuesday last, from Camp Date Creek. They say the weather, down in their country, has been very pleasant. Col . O ' Beirne, commander of the post, had gone to Camp McDowell , Captain McCleave commands during his absence. No Indians had been seen in the vicinity of the post for a long time past .

The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory October 16th, 1869 LIEUTENANT D.A. KANE and a party of troops from Camp McDowell , arrived at Fort Whipple last Thursday afternoon having in charge Jos- Johnson, who it is said killed Sergeant McGovern, at this place, on the night of the 20th They also had in custody Wm. Collins , who was concerned in the terrible trag— edy. Both Johnson and Collins were immediately turned over to Sheriff Taylor, who lodged them in jail to await examination or the action of the Grand Jury. They were captured by Lieutenant McCleave , 8th U.S. Cavalry , in the mountains , near Sacaton Station Gila river, on the 8th inst. We believe the Pima Indians trailed them to their hiding place.
