The Arizona Miner
Prescott, Arizona Territory
July 3rd, 1869
Military, — A gentleman just arrived from
Camp Date Creek, informs us that Major
with his Company, B, of the 8th
Wade ,
Cavalry, had returned to the post from a
scout in the Hacquehila Mountains, where
the command saw plenty of Indians, whom
they could not get near enough to kill.
Some of the Indians, it is said yelled
at the troops in English. The Indians
made an ineffectual attempt to capture
the Major' s pack train. We earnestly
hope that the large force now out
hunting Indians from Camp Devin, will
run afoul of these savages ,
and give
them fits....
Nothing has been heard
from Captain Hobart's command, (L Eighth
Cavalry,) since it left Fort Whipple.
