William Four r' s Journal Manuscript— Arizona Historical Society Tucson, Arizona Page 215 Miners Assist the Soldiers to Hunt Indians Now came the report into the Near Prescott. mines that Mr. Bell had been killed by the Indians. He was the man that had been fur— Some of us went to nishing us with beef. Prescott. There we joined Capt. Thompson ' s company, not as soldiers but merely to help him hunt Indians, as there was but very few soldiers in this country at that time and the officers always liked to have us along. Now we started for Skull Valley, got there about noon, camped there all day we got to Kirkland Valley divide where Bell was killed. all up to pieces after he had course we stopped and buried body , and went on three or camped. Note : night. The next and over on the He had been cut been killed. Of the good man Is four miles and Cornelius Sage and Charles Richard Bell , Cunningham were killed May 3rd, 1865. This is about the time Four r was in Yavapai County , but he says nothing of the killing of Sage and Cunningham. Will iam Fourr wrote this journal about twenty eight years later.
