10101. The Arizona Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory, October 19th, 1867. Mail Carrier Murdered.

The Arizona Miner Prescott, Arizona Territory October 19th, 1867 MAIL CARRIER MURDERED - 7th inst. , Mr. Thomas On Monday , the Mulligan , mail carrier between this place and Tucson , was attacked and murdered by Indians , a few miles beyond Fort McPherson. When shot he was a little in advance of his escort, who turned their horses and galloped back to the Fort for assistance. When a party from the Fort reached the scene of the murder , the Indians had decamped with the animals and the mail— bag , having cut the latter open and emptied its contents upon the ground. Mr. Mulligan was a native of Ireland, one of the early pioneers of Arizona, and a man possessed Of many sterling qualities
