Camp Date Creek.- They are having a big
court—martial down at Camp Date Creek.
Wish the Court would bring Indians to
justice as well as white men. Many of
our citizens believe that Camp Date
Creek is far more ornamental than usef
ul, and we think so, too, in so far as
the force there has labored to hunt and
chastise murderous Indians. We mean the
Cavalry, for, under the new ruling,
Infantry are looked upon as good for
nothing but to do post work. Perhaps the
ruling is correct, but we recollect a
time in the history of this section,
when Infantry troops did pretty effect
ive scouting and fighting, under
Captains Anderson and Thompson, Lieut
enant Barr and other officers.
