Capt. Weir commander at Camp
Deserters . —
McPherson, sometime last week, captured
four soldiers out of a party of five who
deserted from Fort Whipple a short time
ago. One man died of thirst before the
Captain found the party, and on the way
back to camp, another man died, although
every exertion was made to save the poor
fellow and bring him to camp. The other
three are now at McPherson. These two
men fell victims to their own rashness
and ill advised conduct.
