AFFAIRS IN ARIZONA.
1865
On the more northern route, leading from
a stream called Date Creek to Prescott ,
several trains, with some forty animals ,
thirteen men, drivers etc. ,
and eight
soldiers as an escort were attacked
some thirty miles from Prescott. We have
but few details as yet. Wormser, one of
the owners of the train, and two of the
escort, were wounded. The fight lasted
two hours ,
and it is stated that the
volunteer
escort behaved gallantly
Rumor speaks not so fair of the Mexican
employees Various Indians are reported
killed. The Indians got off with four
animals loaded with clothing— two of
which were recaptured by soldiers .
