FROM ARIZONA. -
city, has favored us with the perusal
of a letter received by him from Jacob
Elias , dated La Paz ,
July 29th. The
letter says :
"I am now about ready, and
will start in a couple of days from here
to Prescott, to sell out the remaining
goods I have on hand. News just came in
that the Indians between here and
Prescott have killed two soldiers and
three citizens ; the Indians were about
thirty in number. Ten or twenty soldiers
also had a fight, perhaps with the same
Indians ,
and had to retreat in good
order; they report having killed five
Indians
It is a little dangerous to
travel that road now, but I have to go
there. I expect to get an escort of
soldiers that are sta tioned at Date
of about 10 to 15, and with the
Creek ,
men of
my train we will perhaps number
20 to
30,
so I don t apprehend much
danger . "
